Chains of Pain
By: Paul Bolding

I sit here chained in my pain,
Dwelling upon my past,
A past without gain,
It strikes deeply so fast,
My tears are like the sadness of a week’s rain,
Rain that taps upon my dark glass,
I only know death in these chains,
A reminder of my pointless past,
A past that brings blood like a sea of black rain,
For all my hope lye behind this black glass,
But I can not move from my place of pain,
My chains hold me so fast,
Sins with no gains,
A slow death linger between me and freedom from my past,
I know paradise is on the other side of this pain,
These chains of black glass,
But I can not break these chains,
For it is my past,
Where is freedom from these painful chains?
Freedom from my sinful past?
A dark unforgiving past can seem to be never ending, but there is hope for change.
